Job Title: Assistant Professional 

Responsible to: Head Professional / Shop Manager

Responsible for: Lessons / Custom Fitting / Retail / Driving Range / Tee Sheet Management

Facility:  Alresford is a traditional private members club promoting a friendly atmosphere, a picturesque and easy walking downland course which provides all year-round golf in excellent conditions. In addition to the main 18-hole course, Alresford also benefits from; a 6 hole par 3 academy course, indoor swing studio, excellent short game facilities, wedge range area and a covered driving range.

Main Duties: 

The Assistant PGA Professional role is instrumental in delivering a memorable experience, offering a warm welcome to all our members and Visitors. The Assistant Professional will work closely with the Head Professional to assist them in achieving a first class service in all areas, as well as having a strong focus on providing exceptional services in custom fitting. Alongside a retail focus, there is plenty of opportunity to deliver lessons to our very large client base. With access to our driving range, practice facilities and golf course the Assistant Professional will be able to conduct both individual and group lessons.

We are looking for a team player that is highly motivated, energetic, personable, and eager to succeed in the golf business. 

You will work across all aspects of the golf operation department, with duties including:

  • Carry out Custom Fittings 
  • Conduct individual and group golf lessons 
  • Maintain in-depth product knowledge on the full range of products stocked in the golf shop 
  • Upselling retail items and maintaining a high standard of retail presentation 
  • Assist the Head Professional in monthly stock takes, invoicing and transfers
  • Be able to complete club repairs 
  • Assist with tee sheet management and policies
  • Assisting with Driving Range activities
  • Handle customer enquiries, bookings, shop sales 
  • Deliver the highest level of member and visitor service daily

  • 20 - 30 hour contract based on working in the Golf Retail and Operations department 
  • Additional hours outside of this to conduct golf lessons without limitations
  • Working a shift pattern across the week, including weekends and bank holidays
